Dry Needling

Shawna has been dry needling for 11 years.  Integration

of this practice accelerates the restoration of normal muscle function.  It is called dry needling because nothing is being injected into the body.  A fine filament needle is inserted into a dysfunctional muscle to create a twitch response.  This relaxes the muscle and allows for restoration of blood flow.

NOTE:  Dry needling is NOT acupuncture.  It is a direct technique to treat a specific muscle.  Think of it like an internal massage on the muscle. Acupuncture addresses the meridians in the body, to balance and align those meridians to create wellness.  The only similarity between dry needling and acupuncture is the type of needle used.  Acupuncture and dry needling can be used in conjunction with each other, as they are both excellent modalities to help achieve musculoskeletal health.
